What is Hypnotherpy?

To answer this as simple as possible Hypnotherapy is a theraputic technique which moves you into a state of trance. In this state, the therapist uses scripts / stories with hypnotic language that create a very visual and pleasant story that both the unconscious and conscious mind can enjoy. This story contains direct and indirect suggestions that the unconscious mind relates back to itself and then creates the desired change on a deep deep unconscious level.

What is the Unconscious Mind?

The unconscious mind is so incredible and fascinating the more you look into it. It is the part that contains it all and is responsible for just about everything. It holds everything which is not in your conscious - every memory past and present life, it is responsible for your heart beating, your digestive system working and your body moving, all of your habits that you don't even think of like routine, words you speak, how you react and what you do when you feel nervous, happy, scared, sad, excited etc. It holds it all! The unconscious mind is doing such a great job, but sometimes we need to go in and just tweak a few things in order the bring about the desired changes within, this is where Hypnotherapy comes in.

The unconscious mind is almost like your highest self, it knows absolutely everything about you. In Hypnotherapy we speak directly to the unconscious in a way that gets it to not only work, but actually figures out itself how to create the desired change in a way that will work for you.

What is the Conscious mind?

As Dolores Cannon would say in reference to the conscious mind "I call it the stupid part of the human being, it thinks it knows everything, but it doesn't know anything, but it wants to be in control all the time. I call it Mr Stupid". In Hypnotherapy we get the conscious mind out of the way and work with the unconscious mind. The conscious mind can only hold 7 different things at any one time, the rest is all happening in the back, in the unconscious.

What is NLP?

NLP is short for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. So, what does that mean? Neurology is the mind and how we think. Linguistics is how we use language and how it affects us. Programming is how we sequence our actions to achieve our goals.

NLP is a bit of a tricky one to understand and there are so many definitions depending on who you speak to. NLP originally comes from studying brilliance. Which means highly successful individuals, how they walk, how they hold themselves, the words, language and tone they use, eye contact and posture, how they present themselves. It is how they think about their values and beliefs and how they see themselves, it is a way of thinking, a frame of mind based on fun, curiosity and exploration. NLP is what really makes them successful and separates them from the rest.
